The Secret Path: Part Three

In this part of the course, we continue exploring foundation paper piecing techniques as you create the striking Medieval Star block. Inspired by the bold geometry and elegant symmetry found in medieval cathedrals and traditional European tilework, this block features long pointed star shapes that draw the eye toward the centre and create a timeless architectural feel.

Alongside the FPP block, you’ll also create a beautiful circular appliqué design inspired by decorative Gothic tiles and stained-glass motifs. With layered petals, flowing curves, and rich jewel-toned fabrics, this block brings a soft decorative contrast to the strong geometric lines of the Medieval Star.

This stage is all about building confidence and choosing the foundation paper piecing method that works best for you. Whether you prefer the traditional paper method or the freezer paper method, we encourage you to enjoy the process and make the experience your own.

Part 3 Video Tutorial

In the Part 3 video tutorial, Monica shares a range of helpful tips while making the Medieval Star block. You’ll learn how to fix lost points, understand the importance of a scant 1/4” seam allowance, and see how glue basting seams can help improve accuracy when joining the units to form the rows.
