In this part of the course, we begin exploring the freezer paper method for foundation paper piecing, while continuing to build on the techniques introduced in Part 1. You’ll also create a new appliqué block designed by Alaura, alongside this month’s foundation paper pieced block inspired by the timeless beauty of European tiles.
This stage is all about growing your confidence, experimenting with new methods, and discovering which techniques feel best for you. Whether you choose the traditional paper method or freezer paper method, we hope you enjoy the process and make the experience your own.
Take your time, enjoy each step, and we can’t wait to see what you create.

Part 2 Video Tutorial

In this episode, Monica is making our beautiful Pinwheel Flower foundation paper piecing block while testing two different FPP methods to see which one she prefers.
We compare the traditional lightweight paper method with the freezer paper method while sewing all 8 units that make up this block. The design uses Template A and Template B, which are mirror reverse templates that come together to create the finished Pinwheel Flower design.
If you have ever wondered:
• Is freezer paper better for foundation paper piecing?
• Is regular paper easier for beginners?
• Which method is faster or more accurate?
• Which method creates less waste?
…this video is for you.
We would love to hear from you in the comments:
Do you prefer traditional paper piecing or the freezer paper method?
How to Appliqué and Quilt Your Blocks
All of the appliqué blocks in this course are made using the same techniques demonstrated in the appliqué video below. Likewise, each block throughout the course is quilted in the same way as shown in the quilting video, allowing you to build confidence and consistency as you progress through The Secret Path. Watch the videos below.
We will see you in Part Three. Feel free to leave any comments or questions below. Love, Alaura & Monica xx
