The Secret Path: Seven
Welcome to Part 7! Spring Sewing Has Arrived
Join us in the studio for some spring sewing and a catch-up!
Spring has sprung here in Australia, and it seems to have brought with it plenty of budding ideas, new projects and inspiration in the sewing room!
This month, we’re introducing the Solar Crest, a foundation paper-pieced block inspired by decorative sun motifs found in medieval art and architecture. Eight geometric sections radiate from the centre, with alternating points creating a beautiful sense of rhythm and symmetry.
Alongside the Solar Crest is this month’s French-inspired appliqué block, which continues the decorative tile influence from Part 6. Repeating ribbon-like forms surround a stylised floral rosette, while pointed petals and a scalloped framework give the design a graceful, ornamental feel.
Together, the two blocks add another beautiful layer to The Secret Path as we move closer to bringing the finished quilt together.

While we work on the latest Secret Path appliqué block, we’re chatting about everything we’ve been making and working on behind the scenes this spring.
We share a little of our appliqué process, Monica’s new quilt-as-you-go granny square tutorial, and a caravan quilt she has been slowly working on for more than a decade. We also take you behind the scenes of filming our Rosie Wrap tutorial and sew-along, and Alaura shares a peek at a new appliqué collection she has been quietly working on.
There are lots of projects blooming in the studio at the moment, so make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and come sew with us!
What’s Coming Next
Part 7 is another great opportunity to catch up on any unfinished blocks, because next month we’ll be introducing the bonus appliqué blocks!
From there, we’ll continue working towards the next stage of The Secret Path, including our bonus blocks and preparing to join everything together.
If you’re a little behind, don’t worry. You can continue working through the course at your own pace, and now is a great time to revisit any blocks you’d like to finish before we begin bringing the quilt together.
We’re getting closer to seeing The Secret Path take shape as a complete quilt, and we can’t wait to share the next stage with you.
