How to Quilt Quilt-as-you-go Blocks

One of the most beautiful things about quilt-as-you-go is how manageable it makes the entire quilting process.
Instead of handling a large, heavy quilt, you are working with small sections, allowing you to quilt with ease, accuracy, and far less strain on your machine and your body. It transforms quilting into something calm, achievable, and genuinely enjoyable.
We have just finished quilting our Part 1 blocks, and we absolutely love how they have turned out. Each block begins to come to life at this stage, with the quilting adding texture, depth, and movement to your design.

To help you through this step, we are sharing our favourite tips to keep the process smooth and frustration free. This includes how to avoid thread nests on the back of your quilt and how to achieve clean, consistent stitching.
Watch the video below to see exactly how we quilt our blocks:

Secret Path members can now visit the course portal to download the quilting guide course notes, where you will find all of the written instructions from the video, supported by clear photos to reference throughout the process.

We are absolutely loving seeing everyone’s blocks come together. Each one is so unique, and it is incredible to watch how different fabric choices bring these designs to life.
If you have finished your block, we would love to see it. Feel free to share a photo in the comments below or post it in our Facebook group. Your work inspires the entire community.

If you would like to sew along with us, we would love to have you join the Mystery Quilt Experience.
This journey is designed to guide you step by step, helping you build your quilt with confidence while enjoying the process along the way.

That marks the completion of Part 1 of The Secret Path!
First, we guided you through how to appliqué your blocks, with a video that everyone can enjoy and follow along with. Course members also have downloadable notes available in the portal to support this step.
Next, we introduced foundation paper piecing, along with a detailed video and accompanying course notes to guide you through the process.
Finally, we brought everything together with quilting, giving your blocks structure, texture, and life.
We will see you in Part 2 of The Secret Path, where we will begin two new blocks.
Happy quilting,
Alaura and Monica
